Your Girlfriend's Younger Sister — Episode 1

What happens in episode 1 of Your Girlfriend's Younger Sister

Episode 1 of Your Girlfriend's Younger Sister is a café scene in close-up: a cardigan, a stack of highlighters and a crush nobody admits. It runs 69 seconds.

Nothing in the opening episode happens anywhere more dangerous than a coffee shop. Mila sits across a dark wooden table covered in cups, an open notebook and a fan of highlighter pens, a lilac cardigan slipping off one shoulder. A hand rests on her bare knee; she looks down and smiles, then straight into the lens when a small pink heart sticker lands on her cheek.

That is the whole trick of this series: it is a slow, sweet temptation story told almost entirely in close-ups. Mila is an adult with her own life, and she is the sister of the woman you are dating; the writing pulls its weight from what both of you refuse to say out loud. Ten episodes means the guilt and the jealousy have time to build. If you like your drama warm and talky rather than loud, start here.
